Human right to Science and Open Access

Objective: To ensure that research generates knowledge that is accessible, collaborative and linked to social development, so that everyone can participate in scientific progress and benefit from it.

Equality, Equity, and Inclusion in Research 

Objective: To ensure that research at the UAEMéx transversally incorporates a gender perspective, equity, social inclusion, and respect for the rights of indigenous peoples. 

Open Science, data, collaboration and Research Ethics 

Objective: To strengthen the culture of Open Science, data sharing, national and international collaboration, and responsible and inclusive research ethics.

Science, technology and innovation for regional and social development 

Objective: To place UAEMéx research at the service of strategic challenges of the State of Mexico, the country, and global challenges.

Social Reciprocity, Rights of Indigenous peoples, and Situated Knowledge

Objective: To ensure that research at the UAEMéx, generates tangible social value, acknowledging the rights of indigenous peoples, local knowledge, and actions of reciprocity and responsibility toward communities involved. 

Environment, Water, and Sustainable Urbanization 

  • Restoration and remediation of water systems in the State of Mexico (Urban rivers, local watersheds).
  • Water management in metropolitan areas: aquifer recharge and climate resilience. 
  • Sustainable cities and mobility to reduce contamination and health risks.

Protection of Native Maize and Food Sovereignty

  • Cataloging and protection of native maize varieties from the State of Mexico and their cultural identity. 
  • Agroecology and family farming as a strategy against climate change. 
  • Fair trade and local supply chains to reduce dependence on imports. 

 

One Health 

  • Emerging and zoonotic diseases.
  • Animal welfare.
  • Antimicrobial resistance (AMR). 
  • Animal and environmental health, and ecosystems.

Social inclusion, poverty and Inequality 

  • Territorial vulnerability: municipal gaps in access to rights and social mobility.
  • Evaluation of social programs in Priority Attention Zones. 
  • Civic participation and community governance to reduce inequalities.

Indigenous Languages, Culture, and Humanities

  • Conservation, revitalization, and intergenerational transmission of Indigenous Languages (Otomi, Mazahua, nahuatl, matlatzinca, tlahuica).
  • Cultural documentation and strengthening of community identities. 
  • Artisanal heritage: raw materials, ethical marketing and cultural tourism. 

Gender, Feminisms, Human Rights, and the Culture of Peace

  • Gender-based violence, feminicide, and prevention policies in the State of Mexico. 
  • Care economy: recognition of unpaid work and its impact on social development.
