Open Books

The Secretariat of Science publishes scientific and popular science books of high editorial quality, reviewed by external blind peers, in Spanish or bilingual (English-Spanish) contributing to posing current problems and solutions for regional, state, national or world society, and generating a national or international social good.

PERMANENT OPEN BOOK PUBLISHING PROGRAM

  • Researchers, full-time and subject professors, attached to the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, as well as independent researchers who have a scientific work addressing current issues, which is innovative and proactive, completed and unpublished, may participate.
  • Each participant may submit an unpublished work and it must not be evaluated in another publisher, private or public.
  1. Unpublished works must conform to any of the areas of knowledge recognized by the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation (SECIHTI).
  2. Be scientific, reflective or innovative, aimed at polemicizing the pressing issues of Mexico and the world..
  3. Establish the results of documentary or field research.
  4. Be proactive, with responsible and ethical positions, which contributes to the reflection or generation of knowledge or in the application of it.
  5. It will address contemporary issues and topics of social utility from an original, critical and scientifically grounded point of view.
  6. The works may be specialized or informative and be written based on five principles: 1. Coherence. 2. Concordance. 3. Conciseness. 4. Consistency. 5. Clarity in the exposition of ideas.
  7. The chapter of the works must be homogeneous in length, depth of content, critical apparatus and physical structure.
  8. The works may be monographic or coordinated, that is, of individual authorship (1 or 3 authors on the cover) or coordination of up to three people (made up of six chapters of up to two authors, each with different disciplinary visions, but united by a central theme).
  9. The coordinated works must have their own criteria for the conformation of contents and chapter organization.
  10. Works derived from postgraduate theses will be accepted, as long as they have been restructured in book format, in their sections and type of scientific, technical or informative discourse aimed at a specialized or general audience, and that they have not been partially or totally published by any public or private publisher.
  11. Unpublished works must be sent through the email account at the times indicated in this call.
  12. It is necessary to consider that, once the unpublished work has been delivered, the authors may not make substantive changes, increase or decrease the nominated version, unless it is due to force majeure.
  13. Works created with artificial intelligence will be discarded.
  14. Partially or totally published works not having their reference sources or corresponding permissions will not be accepted.
  15. After receiving a request for editing, the Secretariat of Science will issue an official statement of receipt.

  1. The support of open books, in accordance with Article 12 of the Regulations of the Editorial Function, will be electronic and susceptible to spread through the Institutional Repository (RI), considering the guidelines of the same for this purpose, the current university legislation.
    The Secretariat of Science will publish in print based on budgetary sufficiency at the time when the book has two opinions by positive external blind pairs.
    To know the characteristics of form, the specifications of the substance, opinion, critical apparatus, copyright and other details of the publication, as well as for the presentation of originals, you must consult the Editorial Policy of this Secretariat hereby.

  2. All works submitted in Word and PDF formats must be accompanied by an official letter signed by the applicant explaining the service requested. Both the work in the two basis and the official letter must be sent to the email librosabiertos@UAEMéx.mx

The submitted work must be sent, via letter addressed to the head of the Science Secretariat, with a copy for the head of the Directorate of Public Knowledge Assets.

You must attach the anonymous work in Word and PDF formats, and additionally attach a Word and PDF version with the full and correct names of the authors or coordinators.If pseudonyms are used, they must be indicated. Both the work in the requested formats and the official letter may be sent via the following email address: librosabiertos@uaemex.mx or through the Institutional Correspondence System (SICOINS).
