As part of the International Day of “La Mujer y la Niña en la Ciencia” [Women and Girls in Science” in English] the event Open Science for Peace was held in the Centennial Courtyard of the Rectorate Building at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMéx). The program included a keynote lecture and a tribute honoring the career of Dr. Ana María Cetto Kramis, the first woman in Mexico to earn a Ph.D. in Physics. During her lecture, Dr. Cetto reflected on the potential and social impact of physics, emphasizing its role in promoting peace, an area in which, in her view, there is still much work to be done.

1st Edition of the Science Dissemination Fair

The event also featured the first edition of the “Ciencia Cercana” Science Dissemination Fair, where innovative projects in technology dissemination, medical advances, and natural sciences were presented. The fair invited attendees to explore interactive spaces designed to encourage greater interest in future diploma programs, doctoral studies, and emerging research projects.

Science can also be a pathway to peace. 🔬

At #tuaeméx, we commemorated the International Day of “La Mujer y la Niña en la Ciencia” with Dr. Ana María Cetto’s keynote lecture, inspiring girls, young women, and university students to use knowledge as a tool to transform their communities.

More women in science means a stronger future for our society. #tuCiencia
